# Regions

Vorxis runs dedicated servers in multiple geographic regions. Connecting to a server near you reduces data latency — meaning prices arrive at your screen faster and the chatroom feels more responsive.

## Available regions

| Region ID  | Location             | Typical Latency | Plan Required |
| ---------- | -------------------- | --------------- | ------------- |
| **GLOBAL** | Routed automatically | \~95ms          | Free          |
| **EU-W**   | Western Europe       | \~18ms          | Pro           |
| **EU-N**   | Northern Europe      | \~22ms          | Pro           |
| **EU-C**   | Central Europe       | \~25ms          | Pro           |
| **US-W**   | Western US           | \~92ms          | Pro           |
| **US-N**   | Northern US          | \~90ms          | Pro           |
| **US-C**   | Central US           | \~94ms          | Pro           |
| **ASIA-W** | Western Asia         | \~104ms         | Pro           |
| **ASIA-E** | Eastern Asia         | \~97ms          | Pro           |
| **AUS**    | Australia            | \~146ms         | Pro           |

Latency figures are measured from our server to the browser — actual numbers vary by your own internet connection and distance to the server.

## Switching regions

The **region selector** is in the command bar at the bottom of the terminal:

```
[ GLOBAL ▾ ]
```

Click it to open the region menu. Locked regions show a padlock icon and require a Pro plan to unlock.

When you hover over a locked region, a tooltip shows its latency so you can evaluate the upgrade benefit before subscribing.

## How region selection affects latency

The latency figure shown next to each region in the picker is the **server-to-client round trip** for market data. Lower latency means:

* Price flashes in the Quote Monitor appear sooner after a trade occurs
* Chart candles close at the correct time without drift
* Chatroom messages appear in the correct order with less reordering lag

***

## WebSocket connections

Each region runs its own WebSocket gateway server:

| Domain                 | Region              |
| ---------------------- | ------------------- |
| `wss://nyc.vorxis.xyz` | US East             |
| `wss://ams.vorxis.xyz` | EU West (Amsterdam) |
| `wss://sin.vorxis.xyz` | Asia (Singapore)    |

The gateway handles both the market data stream and the chatroom WebSocket on the same server. When you switch region in the UI, a new WebSocket connection is established to the selected server and your session is migrated transparently.

## GLOBAL mode

If you leave the region set to **GLOBAL**, Vorxis uses Cloudflare's GeoDNS to route your connection to the closest available gateway automatically. This is the recommended setting for Free tier users and for users who move between locations.

GLOBAL latency (\~95ms) represents an average across all regions weighted by user distribution.

> **Pro tip:** If you are trading in EU markets (Euronext, XETRA, LSE) during European hours, switching to EU-W or EU-N will give you the lowest latency for those instruments and the lowest chatroom message delay with other European traders.
