# Quote Monitor

**Panel code: `QM`**

The Quote Monitor is the core data panel in Vorxis. It displays a live price table across any number of tickers simultaneously, with per-row latency tracking and price-flash animations.

## What you see

| Column | Description |
| ----------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Ticker** | Symbol name (e.g. `AAPL`) |
| **Last** | Most recent trade price |
| **Bid** | Best current bid |
| **Ask** | Best current ask |
| **Chg %** | Percentage change from previous close — green for positive, red for negative |
| **Volume** | Session volume (abbreviated: `38.2M`) |
| **Latency** | Round-trip data latency in milliseconds for that symbol |

Price cells flash **green** on an uptick and **red** on a downtick as each update arrives.

## Adding tickers

Type any ticker in the **command bar** and press `Enter`. The symbol is added to the Quote Monitor and also becomes the active ticker for all other linked panels (Chart, News Feed, AI Assistant).

***

## Removing tickers

Right-click any row and select **Remove** — or select the row and press `Delete`.

***

## Setting alerts

Select any row and press `A` to open the alert configurator for that ticker. Alerts fire in-browser when the price crosses a threshold you set.

***

## Latency column

Each row has its own latency figure — the number of milliseconds between the price originating at the exchange and arriving at your browser. Lower is better.

Latency is affected by your selected **region** in the command bar. Switching to a geographically closer region will reduce this number. See [Regions](/reference/regions.md) for details.

> **Tip:** The Quote Monitor does not auto-add tickers as you type — it only updates when you press `Enter`. This prevents accidental additions while you are composing a search.
